Reflect on base life

I had to share this. This was posted by one of my friends on her FB page but I wanted to share it.
...reflect on base life.
.by Tina Mayo on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 10:30pm.

A sure sign that you are on a military base is...when the poster for the car wash fundraiser is tacked to a post with a KA-BAR. By the way, there always seems to be a car wash fundraiser on base these days. Fall is right around the corner, and so is the Marine Corps birthday ball. It's the social event of the year. Seriously! Where else can you eat cake that's been sliced with a sword?!

I was driving around on base today thinking about some of the things that are unique to base life. Sure. You see cars running around with "student driver" posted on them in the civilian world. It always makes me a bit nervous. On base, you can see the "student driver" posted on a passing 7-Ton! I stay clear of those guys. I also have no problem yielding to an AAV making its way to the beach. That said, I think my most interesting military driving experience has been following a howitzer up the hill on to base. I was really glad the hitch held!

Here are some more base life moments:

■You show your military ID before paying for groceries.
■15 MPH speed limits are common and enforced by military police. By the way, 15 MPH is also the top speed of "the world's fastest lawnmower."

■You take a number and wait to get called up to the pharmacy window only to be given a new number.
■The closest parking spots at the exchange (department store) are labeled and reserved for high ranking personnel.
■There is a civilian dress code for shoppers or patrons of services like the veterinarian clinic that covers way more than "no shirts, no shoes, no service."
■Make sure that you read all the signs posted at base recreational sights--especially the ones about what to do when you find an unexploded ordnance.

There is much, much more, but that's enough for now. 'Just another day in the military wife life!

Our Baby Einstien Girl

She also mimics orther shows she likes

Hmm...

Not to sure what to say about this. I went to get her out of her crib from her nap and she had her pants halfway down. It then preceded to go like this..

Guess she didn't like the jammies I had put her in!

Aquarium and Random From Our Trip Home

This is the BIGGEST lobster I have ever seen, seriously the thing was half as big as me!
Matt attempting to touch a sting ray which he finally did! To bad I didnt get it on tape! The thing practically attacked him, it came so far up on the edge and out of the water, after that I couldn't get him to touch the star fish.

I needed to shower and everyone was gone and Matt was watching TV so I took Peyton into the bathroom with some of her toys....this is how I found her when I got out of the shower!

Somebody was just to hungry to wait for mom to fix them breakfast!

So I was eating dinner and the kids were running around as usual so I didn't notice when Peyton stole something off the table. I thought it was ranch dressing when I first noticed she had something....nope it was sour cream! Yummy!!

Matt's 3rd Birthday!!

Wow I can't believe my baby boy is 3 already, where has the time gone?!!
We'll we were lucky enough to be home for his birthday this year, unfortunately Wayne wasn't with us. Matt had a great birthday and no I didn't not go all out like I did with his 1st birthday.
I did do a Buzz Lightyear cake for him which took me almost all day, but it was fun! And thanks mom for doing the cupcakes!
Thank you to everyone who got him a gift, we actually got them all home!

Trip home to UT

We had a 3 1/2 hour flight home but it was a non stop flight so that was good. Peyton screamed a good hour and a half and finally fell asleep during her normal nap time and slept the rest of the flight on the seat next to me.

On the way to the airport...

after they both had naps already!!

This picture was really cute until Matt figured out how to open a app on my phone and posted stickers all over it, that lil stinker!

Ryan's Place Park

Peyton's favorite thing at the park...the flooded lawn! She and Uncle Nate spent a lot of time splashing in the grass!

Fire Works
We'll we missed fireworks out here in VA because they were going to be on the 4th of July I didn't think much about it and forgot that UT will be celebrating on the 3rd....we'll we were flying home on the 3rd! So I thought we were going to miss the fire works this year...we'll we landed got our luggage stopped at Arby's and made it in time for the fireworks in Perry. The kids were asleep and I woke them so that the sound of exploding fireworks didn't scare them to death. Matt had fun but couldn't decide wether he wanted to sit in the car on the car in grandpas seat, grandmas seat in the door way or on the grass!! Peyton just thought it was the coolest thing and was squealing and laughing a ton. Poor girl got a little to excited and started to gag I thought she was going to get sick all over me and so I put her back in her car seat and shut the door. She could still see and hear the fireworks but she calmed down a bit. The next night we went to my brother's to watch them light there fireworks and then on Monday we went to Brigham's fireworks which i will never do again. We got a good spot on one of the baseball fields. Far enough we could leave fast once they were done and close enough to still be under them....we'll I guess under them is not the best place anymore because we had fireworks falling down on us! Luckily Matt was sitting in the stroller so I flipped the canopy down and threw a blanket over him because i wasn't' sure where it was going to land...we'll the shell of one of the fireworks landed right behind my sister in laws seat! After a few more fireworks fell on us we decided to leave!

New airline regulation?!

So I flew home with the kids for the month of July. I've also been trying to get Matt to let the barber buzz his head since he started getting his hair cut at 18 months...ya not happening. He'd just scream and cry and kick and it would take me standing up holding him just to be able to get his hair cut with scissors! Just think how fun the dentist is going to be!!
Anyway he was so excited to be going on an airplane to go see grandpa. So Wayne and I told him it was a rule that you HAD to have a fresh haircut to be able to get on the plane. He totally bought into it and so I took him to get his hair buzzed. He did so well. I told him it will tickle your head a neck a little bit but that's it...and the lady did a little bit on my neck (good thing I have short hair) first so he could see it wouldn't hurt. He cried a little bit at the beginning but once the buzzer touched his head he just laughed the whole time. So the only problem we had was trying not to tickle him because he would jump and squirm.

Before the cut
And the after, such a handsome boy.

1 Year Photos!

Ok...now that Peyton is about 16 months I guess it's time I get her one year photos posted up here!
I finally got her pettiskirt made and wayne and I took her to the photo studio on base. Wayne took the photos.
There's a couple on here that haven't been edited yet.

Most of our photo session went a lot like this

Of course we always have to do our Marine baby photo's!
