New Haircut & The Pumpkin Patch

Matt hasn't had a haircut since I took him home to UT back July. I told him he they wouldn't let him on the plane unless he got his haircut so he sat still and didn't kick, scream or cry for the first time.
We decided today would be a good day to take the kids up to the pumpkin patch. So I told Matt they wouldn't let him into the patch unless he got a hair cut...he fell for it and sat very still and let the lady shave all his hair off! Yes we gave him his first high and tight. We did it a bit shorter than normal instead of a 2 on the sides and 3 on top we did a 1 and a 2! This way we shouldn't have to get it cut again until about February.
ANYWAY....we took the kids up to Alexandria to a place called Nalls. They have an area set up of pumpkins just for the kids to climb on and then a little maze of tunnels underneath. The kids had a blast running around in the maze and climbing on all those pumpkins! We lost our little camera so Wayne stopped at his work and got his good camera, so we have some really good pics!
We came home with two very large pumpkins! One was 20 lbs and the other was 17! Then we got a blue pumpkin and Matt picked out a little one for himself. To be honest I had never seen a blue pumpkin before so I had to get one, Peyton helped me pick it out. I let her touch them all and then she tried to pick one up...so that is the one we bought.

Peyton and her blue pumpkin.

I love this picture...even if it is blurry.

My favorite pic of Matt

Matt and his pumpkin he picked out.

Not sure but I'm guessing this is his "cheese" face.

Matt trying to pull the wagon.

playing in the tunnels.

awww such a cutie, love my baby girl.

Trying to push someone else's wagon!

She finally decided it was to heavy and headed back to the tunnels.

She decided this one was a good one to rest one.

Trying to steal another wagon!

Matt's new friend, they played tag for awhile.

Taking a break.

trying to pull the wagon...she didn't get very far.

She picked out her big pumpkin she wanted!

I think she was checking out that corn.

She tried to walk off with that pumpkin!

He was so proud of himself when he reached the top of the pumpkin mountain.

Randomness

I was looking through our pictures the other day seeing what needs to be added to the ol blog. I found quite a few videos that I just haven't gotten around to posting.
So here are a few of them.

I LOVE my UGG's, so when I was shoe shopping for Matt the other day I found some cute UGG's for Peyton. I bought them 2 sizes to big. she has learned how to run in her to big of shoes. They will be nice and warm for winter.

She found Matt's pudding that he left on the table and decided to finish it off...needless to say her brother wasn't very happy with her.

Having fruitsnacks and milk while watching a movie together.

Dr's, Dentist and a Few Other Updates of Late

So last Wednesday Peyton went to the Dr for her 15th month check up. We were a bit late getting her in seeing as she's almost 17 months. But we missed her appointment due to being in UT....anyway!
I lost the paper that had her stats. So all I can say is she went up in weight from being in the 25 percentile to the 30th. She is still short and her head is still in the 75th percentile. She had to get two shots in her leg and we had to stop between the two because she wouldn't breath from crying to hard. It kinda scared me. I have never seen a kid hold there breath for so long from crying. Her whole face was purple and she did nothing when I blew in her face to get her to breath. Even the nurse started saying breath, please breath. Finally she took a breath and then the nurse stuck her again and well....we started all over again with the purple face and her not breathing. But as soon as I picked her up and kissed her and started getting her dressed she started to calm down. After that we went on a girls night with my friend shopping at the mall.

This last Wednesday both Matt and Peyton went to the dentist. And if any of you know me well you know how terrified I am of the dentist. I mean for the dentist's safety I have to be sedated :) I can barely get through a check up without a panic attack. I've had to many bad...horrible....no traumatizing experiences as a kid.
Anyway after Peyton's Dr.'s appointment and her crying when the Dr looked at her mouth I knew she would cry, but it was Matt we worried about. He can barely get a hair cut without kicking and screaming that I figured this would be impossible to get through. So the night before when we were getting ready for bed I told Matt that we were going to the dentist in the morning. I told him the dentist is going to ask to count your teeth like this. I told him to open his mouth really big and then I counted his teeth. I then told him the dentist will brush your teeth after that and you'll be done. So when he got in the chair and they put the bib on him he laid back and the dentist came in and asked if he could open really big so she could count his teeth. Matt did very well and she counted his teeth and said there were no cavities. She did say he is going to have to have his front tooth and the one next to extracted because the teeth have fused together. Though they came in separately they look like one tooth that has split right down the middle. So when his big teeth come in and only one is ready to fall out but the other isn't it will be a problem. After that they showed him the special tooth brush they would use and showed him how it would just tickle by putting it on his fingers. He laid back again got his teeth brush and laughed a bit because it tickled. After that he had a fluoride treatment and he was done!

Peyton did about how we thought she would. She sat on Wayne's lap and then they laid him back in the chair. As soon as she was laid back on him she started crying, I think she thought she was going to get shots. The Dr got into her mouth and went "Oh wow look at all the teeth! She has molars already, she's so young to already have four." Other than that her teeth were great no problems and no cavities.

Peyton in her new glasses she got at the dentist. Daddy helped pick them out.

Matt with his new train table we got used for $20 and you flip the boards and then it's a lego table. He was putting his toys down for a nap.
I went to get Peyton out of her crib the other morning and found her like this...no wonder she was screaming!

I usually don't buy things like pudding and we really never have candy in the house except for Halloween time and Christmas.
But I let Matt have pudding the other day and Peyton found a peanut M&M and luckily we already knew she wasn't allergic because I had forgotten and had given her something with peanuts in it when she was about 12 months.

Finally!! Sgt Hansen

Finally Wayne was promoted to Sgt on Tuesday, after three LONG years and who knows how many times he had been up for promotion before. So it's about time, and he definitely deserves it! Congratulations babe I love you and I'm proud of you!
This time I got to pin him along with my cousin Greg who is a Major in the Marine Corps and stationed up at the Pentagon.

Off with the old
On with the new!

Ok, so I guess it's tradition to get hit..or punched right on the new insignias. There is no backing on the back of the pin, we just put the pin in and he puts the backings on later. So that is why he is getting hit.

8 Years!!

This is a WAY late post i know.
August 8th Wayne and I celebrated our 8 year anniversary! It doesn't seem like it has been that long but I guess it has.
8 years and two kids later. We lived in NC for 3 1/3 years and are now in VA. Wayne has now been with the Marine Corps for 6 years in October. Looks like we will be moved sometime in the next 6-8 months so he can be put into a deployable Unit. We have been blessed to not have to go through a deployment yet. But I knew we could be lucky for so long.
We'll for our anniversary we dropped the kids off at the sitter's and went to the show. We saw Karate Kid which of course was a very good show....what Jackie Chan movie isn't good....can't think of any. After that we saw Eclipse again....it was my 4th time seeing it...I guess that enough times?! What we really wanted to do was go see Mary Poppins but I went home to UT for the month of July and forgot about it. We'll I got back and saw the commercial for it and started trying to see if we could get tickets last minuet. Well we, three days before the show! Wayne is not a fan of Mary Poppins, he likes the music but not Mary Poppins. I loved the movie growing up and still enjoy it. This was Wayne's first Broadway show and my 5th or 6th. Anyway the show was awesome and the dancing was...wow. It was a good show and we both really enjoyed it...yes even Wayne.
So in November we are going to go see Lion King and hopefully if were still here in April we will go see Beauty and the Beast.

A couple of our favorite songs from the show

Lately the kids have been watching these clips and are really liking the songs!
